The Annual Report of the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association for 1902 states:-
“This is a small open space secured by the Bermondsey Borough Council. The Association has granted six seats for the same, and has arranged to errect a drinking fountain in the ground, Mr Passmore Edwards having kindly undertaken to provide funds for the purpose.”
